Recommendation for Cory's 2026–27 Season
Apply for Global Entry now — it's free on your Delta Reserve Amex. Replaces standalone TSA PreCheck KTN entirely. Covers expedited US customs re-entry on both international trips (Banff return Nov 16, Zermatt return Mar 2027). Fee fully reimbursed within 8 weeks.
NEXUS — hold off for now. Not reimbursed by Amex Reserve. YYC lanes were temporarily closed in Feb 2026 due to a government shutdown.
CLEAR — not worth it on current card lineup. At $209/year, only meaningfully helps on international returns through ATL (2 of 6 trips).
Global Entry Application Process
- Apply online now at ttp.dhs.gov — create a Login.gov account, complete the application, pay the $120 fee with Delta Reserve Amex ending 1006 (statement credit posts within 8 weeks)
- Wait for conditional approval — 80% approved within 2 weeks
- Complete the interview — best option is Enrollment on Arrival (EoA): no appointment needed, complete when landing back in the US from an international flight
- Nov 16, 2026 — Banff return, YYC→ATL — active in time for Deer Valley (Dec 4)
- Mar 2027 — Zermatt return, ZRH→ATL — backup opportunity
- Receive new KTN — update in Delta SkyMiles profile, replaces standalone TSA PreCheck
