Lodging — Under Consideration
Hybrid stay strategy:
- Montage Big Sky (2–3 nights) — sharp rate spike begins ~Feb 12, so front-load the stay before the jump
- Village Center (remaining nights) — Travelocity "Superior Room" = Big Sky Resort "Ski Suite" studio, 432–463 sq ft, wall bed, full kitchen, gas fireplace, slope-facing patio
- Recommend booking Village Center directly via bigskyresort.com for better unit selection
Flights — TBD
Assumed routing: BHM → ATL → BZN on Delta. Not yet priced or booked.
Planning Notes
- End-of-February 2027 reminder set to reassess ski purchase timing and model selection post-Big Sky
- Travel insurance needed: Tin Leg Gold with CFAR or Travel Insured International FlexiPAX via Squaremouth
- This trip is also the skill-level checkpoint for the Trip 5 Zermatt go/no-go decision — assess comfort on US blues here before committing to Zermatt's harder Euro-Blue terrain
What's Still To Research
- Confirm final dates (avoid Feb 14–16 Presidents' Day spike)
- Price flights BHM→BZN
- Lock down Montage vs. Village Center night split
- Ski school / lesson booking
- Beginner terrain mapping for Big Sky
- Non-ski activities for rest days
